Inspiration for ICT Integration
Inspiration software is great for classroom use! Our Inspiration session is designed to help you learn to use the power of graphic organizers in a way that allows students to create, express and organize using keywords, shapes and icons to represent their ideas. If you have questions or comments from your workshop with us, you can post them here.

The fella that did our inspiration session let us burn a CD of Canadian symbols to add to the picture library. I attemted to install them but they would not open in the inspiration program.

Hi Melissa,
The Canadian Symbols Library is compatible with versions 5, 7, and 8 of Inspiration. If you have a different version (there were some older ones) you may not be able to install the symbols.
Secondly, you have to be logged on to your computer as a local machine administrator in order to install the symbol library - this means that you must be able to make changes to the "program files" folder. If there are security policies that prevent users from making those changes, you might need some help from your network tech.
To install the symbol library, you need to copy and paste the entire "Canadian Symbols" folder into the "c:/program files/Inspiration 8/Inspiration Libraries" folder. After that folder has been copied, you should be able to see the Canadian Symbols library the next time that you start Inspiration. One note of caution - the download link provided in the support blog is to a ".zip" file - a compressed file that you must first "unzip" (WindowsXP does this automatically) in order to see the Canadian Symbols folder that you want to copy.
I'm not sure how you are getting the error message that you got, but you actually don't need to have Inspiration running in order to install the library.
Hope that helps - drop me another note if it's still not working and we'll dig some more!
Regards,
John
