Cheater's Guide to Library Cataloguing
This workshop provides ways to streamline your cataloguing without compromising searchability, free online tools that can make a cataloguer's life easier, and tips for tracking down catalogue copy (or its equivalent) online for those items that keep moving to the bottom of the to-do pile. For the workshop participants who are continuing to work on the challenge set for the subject heading game (get from "sports" to "roosters" in the Library of Congress): I'll be posting the solution here in a few days
The solution to the subject heading game challenge is:
In the Library of Congress Basic Search screen, type "sports" into the subject browse search.
Click on the "more info" button beside "sports"
Choose the narrower term "bullfights"
Click on the "more info" button beside "bullfights"
Choose the see also term "fighting bull"
Scroll down the result list and click on the "more info" button beside "fighting cock"
Choose the see heading "cockfighting"
Click on the "more info" button beside "cockfighting"
Choose the see also heading "game fowl"
Click on the "more info" button beside "game fowl"
Choose the see also heading "roosters"
