Buying a Computer - How to get what you really need!

Megabyte, Gigabyte, network cards, RAM, USB ports, CD burners... what exactly does it all mean? If you're new to computers, it can seem like you've entered another land with a different language! This session is designed to help you get more comfortable with what you are buying before you spend your hard-earned cash. This introductory session will help you:

• become more comfortable with computer jargon
• understand what the various components are for
• learn why you need to be picky about what software you get
• assess your own computer needs
• evaluate how you can meet those needs within your budget

Time-permitting, students will have the opportunity to visit some online stores to check prices for various computers.
