Creating Classroom & Subject Area Web Pages

The Internet exemplifies a new way of looking at instruction - at how it is organized and how it is presented. Recognized by school districts across Canada as a powerful, motivational tool that will continue to expand, and flourish, teachers need to learn how to best embrace the communication challenge and play an essential role. If you desire the skills to design and develop an instructionally sound web site for teaching and learning, then this session is for you. During this session you will identify and examine elements of design for the creation of such pages, with emphasis on the value of such a resource for both teacher and student. You will also explore existing web sites designed by teachers and examine the following kinds of questions:

  • Who is your audience?
  • What are you going to show the audience?
  • Where will the site be located?
  • What is the purpose?
  • How will your students be required to use the site?

Participants in this session will go hands-on and begin the creation of their classroom or subject area Web site using FrontPage, Dreamweaver, or a text editor.
