Introduction to databases using Microsoft Access - for Teachers

Microsoft Access is a powerful database package that allows you to organize and manipulate large collections of data. This session is designed to cover basic features in Access and how they can be used with students in the classroom. In this session, participants will consider illustrative examples and learn the following skills:

  • define database features and functionality
  • consider where to integrate database usage into your curriculum
  • identify and work with Access toolbars and menus
  • create tables within a simple database
  • add and edit records, fields and data within a database table
  • create a form to simplify data input
  • sort, find, and filter records within a database

This is a hands-on session. Participants will work with Access to practice skills in this workshop.
