Introduction to Spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel - for Teachers

Microsoft Excel is an exciting spreadsheet package that allows you to display and manipulate numerical data. It can perform simple or complex calculations, quickly revise and evaluate numbers, and display results in reports and graphical charts. This session is designed to cover basic features in Excel and how they can be used with students in the classroom. In this session, participants will view, discuss and practice with illustrative examples as they learn the following skills:

  • identify and work with Excel toolbars and menus
  • create new workbooks and spreadsheets
  • edit, move and format cells, rows and columns
  • perform simple calculations and comparisons
  • create, modify and print charts from spreadsheet data
  • look at how other educators have used spreadsheets in their classrooms

This is a hands-on session. Participants will work with Excel to practice skills in this workshop.
