Web Sites for Libraries

Library Web Sites have become part of the Internet landscape. While some libraries have launched major sites, some are now revisiting their sites with an eye on upgrades and changes, and others are still considering why or what should go a site at all. During this workshop, you will examine content and design for your own library site, look at other library sites on the Web to gather ideas, consider maintenance and administration issues, and how to involve your stakeholders in the process. Whether creating, revising, or expanding your library site, this session will provide inspiration and an action plan. In this session you will:

  • discuss a variety of services and options for library web sites
  • examine library sites already on the web for content and design
  • analyze the needs of your environment
  • consider who should be on your web team
  • create an action plan for creating or revising your library web site

This workshop includes valuable planning sheets that can be used with your own library web team after taking this session.
