We are now suffering from what some have termed "info glut". With the ability to publish in the hands of anyone with a computer, and so much information readily available, how can we ensure that what we are reading on the Web is of value? How can we tell if the information is accurate? In this session you will:

• examine the importance of evaluation
• consider how the evaluation process can vary depending on how the information will be used
• consider different methods of evaluating information
• use checklists of criteria for evaluating web sites
• evaluate sites on the web as examples
• consider ratings services and other assistance for evaluation
