Better Research on the Web: Intermediate Web Searching

With so many search engines and millions of web sites, it's no surprise that we still have trouble getting good results from our Internet searches. This is an intermediate search session that looks at new search engines and techniques, special features in some of the standard search tools, and provides time-tested and proven methods of getting better search results. This session covers:

• selecting the right tool for your search
• formulating effective search strategies in the tools
• additional techniques for better results
• doing hands-on comparisons of the search results generated by different search tools
• assessing the differences between the tools
• accessing the Invisible, or Deep Web
• an introduction to Blogs as information sources
