Gearing up for fall computer training

September is shaping up to be a busy month with registrations already on an upswing! We've enjoyed a great summer and I hope you had the chance to get some rest and relaxation in with your family during the warm weather. Now we're all heading back to work and back to school, so if you have any custom booking or group training requests, please get those into us as soon as possible to ensure we can schedule the dates you want.

Summer 2008 news

The summer has simply flown by here and I see that I haven't shared anything with you the whole time, so here are some notes to catch you up.

Renovations
The building renovations are complete now and we're very pleased with our new look. In our offices, we made a number of major changes this summer and did some painting to freshen up the lab and meeting room. The computer lab now has it's own air conditioning so we can now keep it comfortable regardless of how many people are in a class - we're thrilled with that!

New courses
We have finalized all the materials and are now ready to go with all of the Office 2007 full courses. All of last year we offered the transition series (short Office 2007 courses for those who just need a kick start into the new interface and features in the new version). Starting in September, we will be offering the full day courses in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook 2007 as well as the transition series. We will also still be offering Office 2003 as many organizations are still working in that version with no plans to go to 2007 in the immediate future.

IT Testing
We are now an official Prometric Testing centre! Over the summer we have been setting up the new testing room and working with Prometric to put the systems in place for this new service. The testing centre is now open and we are booking industry exams for Microsoft, IBM, Dell, Apple, Oracle, and many other IT certification exams.

eCampus expansion
To further support those working towards IT certifications, we are fine tuning our online course offerings and adding a huge list of web-based courses to our eCampus collection. We expect to have the complete list available by the end of September.

New Registration System
Our registration system provider, uRegister.ca, has informed us that they will be migrating to a new version this fall. We expect to see the new version rolling out for Inet-Toolbox during September, so don't be surprised if you go to register for a course and the system has changed! We are working with uRegister.ca to make the migration as seamless as possible but it looks like we will not be able to port the personal data from the old system to the new one, so you may need to create a new account when the new registration system kicks in.

As always, if you have any questions about any of the services or offerings of Inet-Toolbox please don't hesitate to contact our office at 403.703.4303

There's more to come, but enjoy the rest of the summer and we hope to see you this fall.

Our new "No cancellation" guarantee

Course cancellations are a frustration for everyone so we're launching a new program to combat that issue. Starting in July, you'll be able to choose a "No course cancellation" option when you register for your sessions. By choosing the no cancellation option, your course is guaranteed to run and you won't need to worry about rescheduling, getting refunds, switching to a different course or any of the other aggravations associated with a course cancellation. Instead, you can rest assured that your course will run on the day and time you registered for. We look forward to seeing you in class!!

Building Renovations almost complete!

We are so thrilled. After months of dust, noise, and general disarray, we are starting to see the end of the renovations. They have finally replaced all the carpets and added ceramic tile in the halls and lobby of the building, painted all the walls and stair railings, modified the air conditioning for our computer lab to keep it cooler, and best of all - new washrooms! In a few weeks we are certainly hoping to see the last of our hardworking renovation crew :)

Keep your eye on the news through the notification list emails or through our blog to find out when we'll be having our "end of renovations party"!

Christmas Gift Certificates

This year, when you parcel up those digital gifts, don't forget the training. It's wonderful to give a new digital camera, software, or computer but it's fantastic when you also include a class on how to use it! If the people on your gift list have all the computer gadgets they need, how about a class to expand their skills - digital cameras, creating videos, photo editing, blogs, podcasting - we've got them all. Inet-Toolbox has gift certificates for training or tutoring in any amount you designate so you can give digital gifts that get used to the fullest. Contact our office to order your gift certificates in time for the holidays!

Inet-Toolbox Web Design division change

Over the last couple of months we've been busy streamlining so we can focus on providing even better services to our students. In support of that goal, we have split away our Web design division and will now refer all Web design requests to our sister company, ¡Orale! Design Studios. We're excited because it means better service for all of our clients. Inet-Toolbox can focus on serving the needs of our training clients, and ¡Orale! can focus on serving the needs of our Web hosting and design clients. Changes to our Web site in the New Year will begin to reflect this new relationship.

If you are a Web hosting and design client, don't worry! ¡Orale! has retained the same design team, but will be using a newer server and be providing more extensive hosting options. Inet-Toolbox will also continue monitoring all of our current Web design clients for one year to ensure all is well.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact our office.

Air Conditioning Update

Wow! The HVAC people are in working on our air conditioning! We are so excited. They have estimated a couple of weeks before we will see things really fixed up, but by this Saturday it will start to turn around in here. Those of you who have been in when we've had heat challenges will understand how much this means to us. All of us are looking forward to finally having a much cooler classroom for better learning and teaching.
